Addington Valley Academy retains School Games Gold Award
We are delighted to announce that Addington Valley Academy has once again been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award, recognising our continued commitment to providing high-quality physical education, school sport and opportunities for pupils to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Academy has achieved the prestigious Gold award, reflecting the dedication of both pupils and staff in promoting participation, inclusion and enjoyment through sport and physical activity.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which celebrates schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to developing sporting opportunities for all young people. Gold status is awarded to schools that consistently meet a wide range of criteria, including participation, competition, leadership and inclusive provision.
At Addington Valley Academy, we believe that sport and physical activity play a vital role in supporting our pupils’ physical wellbeing, confidence, teamwork and resilience. Throughout the year, pupils have enjoyed taking part in a wide variety of activities, competitions and events, both within school and across the local community.
Principal John Reilly said:
“We are incredibly proud to have retained the School Games Gold Mark Award for the third year running. This achievement reflects the enthusiasm of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and our commitment to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to enjoy, participate in and benefit from sport and physical activity. Well done to everyone who has contributed to this fantastic achievement.”
