The Mayor joins us for our Jubilee Party
Newly elected, Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry joined Addington Valley Academy to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The school was adorned with bunting and painted plates, but it was the huge Union Jack artwork created collaboratively by students across the school to commemorate the Jubilee that stole the show.
Students welcomed the Mayor with a handmade card and invited him to join their singing circle where they sang the National Anthem together. Next stop was the craft table where the Mayor enjoyed making crowns with students, so much so he wore his for the rest of the visit.
Students proudly showed off the artwork they had been preparing for weeks and then it was time for afternoon tea! The mayor spent time talking to staff and parents and enjoyed some jubilee themed treats whilst students had a great time playing games on bouncy castles and taking donkey rides.
Following the visit, the Mayor took the time to share a photo of this card and crown on the mantle of the Mayor’s Office.
